Dr. Gagan Singh, M.D.
Dr. Gagan Singh, M.D. is a Board certified ophthalmologist with the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has been selected as one of America's Top Ophthalmologists by the Consumer's Research Council of America. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at West Virginia University. Dr. Singh has over 15 years of experience in providing his patients with compassionate medical and surgical care of the highest quality. In addition to managing complex medical eye diseases, Dr. Singh has performed thousands of surgeries which include sutureless cataract surgery, medical laser procedures for glaucoma, diabetes, and refractive laser surgery.
Dr. Gagan J. Singh completed his internship in Internal Medicine at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC. This was followed by an Ophthalmology residency at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. During his residency, he published a chapter on Dacryoadenitis in the major online journal Emedicine. He was also invited to give a talk on his research with multifocal Electroretinograms in amblyopic eyes at the annual Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology meeting in Florida. At the University of Maryland, Dr. Singh was the first resident-in-training physician to perform a successful Lasik (refractive surgery) procedure. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Singh continued on to a Cornea-External Disease fellowship affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
He is an active member of American Academy of Ophthalmology, Research to Prevent Blindness foundation, and Indian American Medical Association. He has presented lectures to medical students, residents, and patient forums.
Dr. Singh completed his medical studies at Howard University in Washington DC. He graduated in the top 10 of his medical school class. He was honored for this accomplishment by being invited to be a member in the prominent, nationally recognized, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. While in medical school, Dr. Singh was awarded the second place for his research and presentation of Nitric Oxide and Carbon Monoxide in Critical Care patients. He was invited to present his research data at the prominent National Medical Student Research Forum in Galveston, Texas and at the national meeting of the American College of Physicians in San Francisco, California.
Dr. Gagan J. Singh completed his undergraduate studies in Biochemistry at the University of Maryland, College Park. At the University of Maryland, Dr. Singh was the president of the Pre-Medical Society, a 400 member group of students planning to become physicians.
While attending University of Maryland, he also performed research at the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, part of the prestigious National Institutes of Health, where he published an article on E. coli capsule production in the Journal of Bacteriology. For these and other accomplishments, Dr. Singh was honored with induction into two prestigious Honor Societies, Alpha Epsilon Delta and Omicron Delta Kappa.
Dr. Singh is an active member of his church and believes in giving back to the community. He often volunteers at the Health Fairs to reach out to underserved population. In his spare time he also enjoys reading, sports, and spending time with his family.
